The Morning Commute: February 27, 2015

Behold, the weekend! A half-sized portion of the Morning Commute for you.

1) The death rate for people who walk has gone up, not down here in Pennsylvania. Vision Zero programs aim to reduce these deaths. Statewide Vision Zero?

2) "Loose play" is a term for playgrounds that create opportunity for decision making, rather than overly structured jungle gyms. It also sounds like something from the days of Vince Fumo.

3) These #PhillyBikeLove photo winners show some diversity in the cycling community... a little bit of utility, a little bit of recreation, a little bit of suit and bow tie?

4) Construction on the W Hotel at 15th and Chestnut has begun. Soon, the view of building in the banner image of today's Morning Commute will be gone. It's taken from the edge of where the new W will rise.

5) Parking Lot Wastelands so close to Philly transit stops. Indeed a waste(of)land.
